ODIONGAN, Romblon, Setyembre 12 (PIA) -- Pansamantala munang ipinatigil sa loob ng 100 na araw ni Romblon Governor Jose Riano ang pag-angkat ng mga pork products mula sa mainland Luzon dahil sa banta ng African Swine Fever o ASF sa probinsya.
Ayon kay Dr. Paul Minano, hepe ng Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (ProVet), ang executive order ni Governor Riano ay pinirmahan at sinimulang ipatupad noong ika-23 ng Agosto.
Sinasabi aniya rito na pansamantala munang ipinagbabawal ang pagpasok sa lalawigan ng Romblon ng mga live pigs, pork meats, at pork-related processed products kung walang maipapakitang shipping permit mula sa Bureau Of Animal Industry.
"Actually ngayon, naglabas ng order si Gov para paigtingin itong quarantine kaugnay rito sa ASF na ito. Lahat po ng karne, live animals katulad ng baboy ay pansamantala muna nating hindi pinapapasok rito sa ating probinsya," ayon kay Dr. Minano.
"Itong mga processed products dapat accompanied yan sila ng veterinary health certificate mula sa Bureau Of Animal Industry, ngayon kung wala silang permit, hindi po sila makakapasok lalo na itong mga galing ng mainland Luzon," dagdag ni Minano.
Sa ngayon, wala pa naman naitatala ang Office of the Provincial Veterinarian ng mga nagkamatay na mga baboy sa probinsya ngunit patuloy pa rin ang kanilang pagbabantay sa mga babuyan at sa mga pantalan na pwedeng paglusutan ng mga pork products.
Noong umaga ng September 10, naharang at kinumpiska ng mga tauhan ng Office of the Provincial Veterinarian ang dalawang sako ng mga chicharon na inangkat pa mula sa Bulacan dahil sa walang maipakitang papeles ang importer nito. Nakatakda itong sirain ng mga tauhan ng ProVet para hindi na maikalat sa probinsya.
"Dapat talaga nating paigtingin yang quarantine works natin dahil sa Romblon talaga, maraming nabubuhay sa pag-aalaga ng mga baboy, ayaw natin masira ang mga business nila," ayon pa kay Minano.
Maalalang sinabi ni Department of Agriculture Secretary William Dar na ilan sa mga samples na kanilang pinadala sa United Kingdom para ipasuri sa African Swine Fever ay nag positibo. (PJF/PIA-MIMAROPA/Romblon)
