BEIJING, June 4 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Governor of the U.S. state of Oregon Kate Brown on Wednesday announced details of Phase 2 of the state's social and economic reopening plan amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Today, 35 counties, home to roughly 80 percent of the state population, are in Phase 1 of our Safe and Strong Oregon Reopening Plan," she said during a news conference.

TEHRAN -- Iran on Thursday reported 3,574 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 164,270, official IRNA news agency reported.
Kianush Jahanpur, head of Public Relations and Information Center of the health ministry, said during his daily update that 59 people died overnight, taking the total fatalities of the virus to 8,071.

MOSCOW -- Russia has confirmed 8,831 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, with its total reaching 441,108, its coronavirus response center said in a statement Thursday.
The death toll increased by 169 to 5,384, while 204,623 people have recovered, including 8,666 over the last 24 hours, according to the statement.

KAMPALA -- Uganda on Thursday further eased its COVID-19 restrictions, reopening public transport among other measures, after over 70 days of lockdown.
Public transport has been allowed to reopen across the country, excluding districts neighboring other countries, in a bid to stop the importation of the disease.

ADDIS ABABA -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 positive cases across the African continent surpassed 162,673, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said Thursday.
The Africa CDC in its latest update revealed that the number of confirmed COVID-19 positive cases rose from 158,318 on Wednesday to 162,673 as of Thursday morning. ■
