Austin Cindric held on in overtime for his first NASCAR Xfinity victory of the season Thursday night at Kentucky Speedway.
Cindric had to hold off Chase Briscoe, Riley Herbst and Ross Chastain in a wild finish that was set up by a spinout by Harrison Burton with five laps remaining. It was Cindric's first win on an oval.
"I don't care what shape the track is, if it's dirt, oval, I don't care," Cindric told FS1 afterward. "We've come so close all year. ... I'm pumped. This is awesome."
Cindric and Briscoe battled up front on the overtime restart but Briscoe, who had won three of the past four races, slid through the first two turns and allowed Cindric to take the checkered. Briscoe slid to fourth as Herbst and Chastain finished second and third.
Michael Annett rounded out the top five.
Cindric led 41 of the 136 laps. Pole-sitter Noah Gragson led a race-high 87 laps, winning the first and second segments. But after tangling with teammate Justin Allgaier with two laps to go, Gragson saved his car but slid to an 11th-place finish.
Xfinity races again at Kentucky Speedway on Friday night.
