The US president is expected to tout "historic accomplishments" of his administration

President Donald Trump is delivering a live address to the nation from the White House in what he has billed as a wide-ranging update on the state of the country and his administration's agenda.

The US president said it has been "a great year for our Country" and promised in a Truth Social post on Tuesday that "THE BEST IS YET TO COME," urging Americans to tune in for the primetime speech.

Trump has also suggested the address will touch on challenges he says were inherited from the previous administration, while emphasizing what he portrays as a turnaround under his leadership.

The White House says Trump is focusing on what it describes as the administration's "historic accomplishments" over the past year, as well as outlining priorities for the months ahead. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has said the president is highlighting achievements across key policy areas and previewing future initiatives.
