BEIRUT, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon received on Wednesday support from different countries including Qatar, Kuwait, Russia and Greece following two explosions that rocked the Port of Beirut a day earlier, the National News Agency reported.
The country received two field hospitals from Qatar carrying medical supplements and beds to provide medical care for 1,000 patients.
Meanwhile, Kuwait sent an aircraft to Beirut's airport containing medical material.
Russia sent five aircrafts to help Lebanon remove rubble resulting from the explosions, in addition to experts, laboratories to test COVID-19 infections, and personal protective equipment.
Head of the syndicate of Lebanese physicians Charaf Abou Charaf announced that Lebanon is in urgent need for medical equipment and cancer medication as the stocks of medicines were destroyed at the port during the explosions.
"We hope to receive cancer medicines among the donations that will arrive in Lebanon soon," he said.
Two huge explosions rocked Port of Beirut on Tuesday at around 6:10 p.m. local time (1610 GMT), shaking buildings all over Lebanon's capital, causing heavy damage in the city.
So far, the explosions have caused at least 100 deaths and over 4,000 injuries while the number of casualties is expected to rise throughout the day.
The Lebanese Red Cross and Civil Defense teams are still looking for survivors through the rubble.
Pieces of shattered glasses covered most of the areas in Beirut. Lebanese citizens are working on picking up broken glass from the streets.
Lebanon is expected to receive donations from more countries during the coming days.
