Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 28 (ANI): Defence and Foreign Affairs Expert Sanjeev Srivastava said India's policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism has reached a new level after the Pahalgam terror attack.
He also said that Pakistan will face consequences, as India has already taken steps like suspending the Indus Water Treaty, stopping activities at the Wagah Attari border, and expelling Pakistani officials.
Speaking to ANI, Srivastava said, 'Modi's policy towards terrorism is zero tolerance, and terror has crossed a red line after the Pahalgam attack. Pakistan will have to pay the price for crossing this red line. This process has already begun; a diplomatic strike was conducted the next day of the attack in India. Through which the Indus Water Treaty was suspended, activities at the Wagah-Attari border were halted. Pakistan's Defence Attache, Pakistani nationals were expelled from the country. This was a diplomatic strike. But this action has been taken by India; this is just the beginning. India is preparing for a major military action in the near future. The process of developing a strategy is underway within India's security system, which is called. At the time of our choosing, India will respond to it.'
Srivastava added that these actions are just the beginning, and India plans a stronger military response in the future.
'Pakistan will have to pay for its actions. Pakistan itself is burning in the fire of terrorism. Be it Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or Balochistan, terrorists are carrying out major attacks within Pakistan. The Bhasmasuras that Pakistan has created are burning Pakistan itself. Despite this, Pakistan is conspiring to target India because of this terrorism, which is a clear indication of this. The future of Pakistan can be completely ruined. Pakistan itself will suffer a big and severe punishment for its actions,' Srivastava further added.
He explained the government's decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty, saying, 'India has already initiated a diplomatic action; the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty is not only a diplomatic action but also an economic action. India is an upper riparian state, as it controls the flow of water from the rivers. It will hurt the entire situation in Pakistan. Stopping water in Pakistan can lead to droughts there, and releasing excess water can lead to floods. Until now, India has been sharing data on the Indus River System with Pakistan. However, India is no longer sharing this data with Pakistan, so Pakistan will be unable to estimate the condition of these rivers. India can cause great damage to Pakistan through this system; this process has already begun.'
He spoke about the resemblance between the Pahalgam attack and the Hamas attack. He said, 'An attack has been carried out in Pahalgam, India, on the same lines as the terrorist organisation Hamas carried out on Israel on October 07, 2023. Its scale was big; more than 1200 people were killed in Israel in a single day, and Hamas also took many people hostage. The Pahalgam attack is small in scale. But its nature has been copied from Hamas.'
Srivastava said that the whole world stands with India and has condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and said the perpetrators must be punished.
'The world stands with India today. Even China, which claims to be the best of friends with Pakistan, has condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and said the perpetrators must be punished. Islamic nations are also standing with India... Turkey is one nation which has not released any statement, but that is because Recep Tayyip Erdogan is trying to portray himself as a leader of the Islamic community across the globe... Islamic nations recognise the importance of India in the modern world, which is why they seek to maintain good relations with us... Pakistan stands isolated today... USA also stands with India... This attack was carried out at a time when the US Vice President was present in India. The world was looking at India at that time... The timing of this attack has exposed Pakistan again in front of the US,' Srivastava said.
On April 22, terrorists attacked tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, killing 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen while leaving several others injured, in one of the deadliest attacks in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike in which 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were killed.
