China's victory against Japanese aggression was more than a military success but an enduring reminder that the spirit of peace, mutual respect and shared destiny can prevail against serious obstacles, said a Kenyan expert.
NAIROBI, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- The victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War 80 years ago ushered in an era characterized by peace, solidarity and development, a Kenyan expert has said.
The courage, resilience and collective resolve of the Chinese people helped smash Japanese imperialism alongside fascist ideology that fueled World War II, inspiring the human race to stand up for justice, sovereignty and unity, Onyango K'Onyango, a communication consultant, said in an interview with Xinhua.
"By upholding principles of unity, courage and moral responsibility, China helped shape the foundation for a new international order that values cooperation over conquest," K'Onyango said.
China's victory against Japanese aggression was more than a military success but an enduring reminder that the spirit of peace, mutual respect and shared destiny can prevail against serious obstacles, he noted.
At this juncture in history, as the post-WWII order is facing tremors, fueled by economic nationalism and hegemony by some Western powers, China has emerged as a solid advocate for multilateralism, K'Onyango said, noting that China-proposed initiatives, notably the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, are building bridges of friendship and cooperation among countries.
Through the Global Development Initiative, he said, China has championed practical cooperation to tackle poverty, promote food security, green transition and digital connectivity, in line with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In addition, he said that by fostering dialogue among civilizations, Beijing has enriched global efforts to promote cultural understanding and mutual learning, easing tensions across the globe.
"These efforts reflect China's vision of a community with a shared future for humanity, a vision rooted in the lessons of history and oriented towards peace, justice and mutual respect," K'Onyango said.
He said that China's proposed models for conflict resolution, which prioritize national sovereignty and development as fundamental to peace, have gained traction in the Global South.
"The success of Beijing's role in helping restore diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran in 2023 was a reminder that not all influence must come through force," K'Onyango stressed.
