Prince Owusu, who enjoyed an outstanding sophomore season in Major League Soccer, has signed a three-season contract extension with CF Montreal, the club announced Friday.
Financial terms were not released by the club, but the extension includes Owusu's services for the 2026, 2027 (sprint season) and 2027-28 season, with options for the following two seasons.
'Montreal has become a special place for me,' said Owusu. 'Extending my contract with CF Montreal is a source of pride, and I'm grateful to the club's Sporting staff for its trust. I'm eager to continue this journey with my teammates and look forward to seeing our supporters again soon at Stade Saputo.'
Owusu, who will be 29 when the 2026 season starts, signed with Toronto FC in August 2023 and scored nine goals in the 2024 season. CF Montreal acquired his rights in January 2025 and he led his new club with 13 goals during the campaign.
Owusu tied for 20th in the league in goal-scoring, but FC Montreal (6-18-10) struggled to a 13th-place finish in the Eastern Conference.
'Prince's contract extension represents an acknowledgement of the consistency that he has brought to the Club since his arrival,' said CF Montreal Managing Director, Recruitment and Sporting Methodology Luca Saputo. 'His on-field achievements routinely reflect the daily leadership he demonstrates to his teammates. We're very pleased that he has committed to our project.'
A native of Wertheim, Germany, Owusu currently competes for Ghana on the international level. He was called up for the first time and appeared in November 2025 friendlies vs. Japan and South Korea.
